3 Traits That Will Make You A Better Runner

Would You Hold My Hand (but maybe not while we’re running)?
Yes, of course! Sometimes, you just need someone to hold your hand while you peek around the corner to see what’s next in your life. An easy and rewarding way to do that for yourself and for others is to find your running group. Amazingly, your running group will not only make running more fun, but it will provide that lasting positive energy that comes only from commiserating with other runners while barely breathing.
So, how do you find your running group? Well, to start, you do have to run! You also have to be brave, bold and kind.
Be BRAVE –
It takes a little bit of courage to join a running group. There are so many doubts about how you will do relative to the other runners. Here’s the thing, you need not worry about those things because running groups are welcoming and they always include runners of all types and paces. The common factor is the joy of running. Plus, being part of your running group will motivate you to be there, at the trail or the track or the park or wherever. You will be there because they are waiting and they need you!
Be BOLD –
It’s risky to put yourself out there. It’s risky not to. If you are lucky enough to have the choice, choose to get out of your daily familiar and comfortable zone. If you usually run alone, try the company of other runners. If you are already part of a running group, invite someone new to join the group. If you are stuck in a slump or just need to change it up, look for a new source of motivation like a new training plan, or find a new focus for your running such as improving nutrition and remaining injury free. The risk is worth the reward.
Be KIND –
It’s easy to forget to be kind to yourself. There is so much to do for work, family and friends and that makes it a challenge to find any extra time for yourself. What if it’s not extra time? You can make it part of your daily/weekly/monthly routine to run with your running group, to cross train so you can remain injury free, to develop the right nutrition plan for running, to get a massage that revives those tired legs and to rest when your body needs to rest. It’s sound like a lot to do, so be creative and figure out what you don’t need to do. And, you see, that’s the thing about your running group, they’ll hold your hand while together you figure this out (and you’ll have fun too)!
Keep MOVING!!
