I Believe in YOU
I believe there’s an athlete in all of us.
I believe in the power of real, high quality food.
I believe in having fun when you exercise.
I believe in playing with your food.
I believe in the power of an active, healthy, connected community.
I believe in YOU.
There’s nothing more satisfying to me than witnessing someone achieve their goals. I love seeing people SHINE…inside and out. It’s freaking awesome. It gets me up in the morning. It moves me to constantly improve so that YOU can improve. Whether it’s crossing the finish line of your first Ironman or marathon, improving your time in an event, losing weight, exploring food in a new way, feeling more energized, or getting healthier, I love witnessing the transformation.
That’s why I do what I do…to help YOU exceed your potential so that you can live a confident, healthy and empowered life.
An Athlete Who “Gets It”
I’ve always been active. As a kid, I was frequently found hanging upside down in trees, jumping rope in the street or riding my pink banana-seat bike around the neighborhood. I started dancing at 4, swinging a bat at 5, and trying out every sport under the sun until I finally settled on volleyball and softball.
After college, I needed an outlet. About that time, my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. A friend of mine was involved in Team In Training, a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society training program. In 2003, I thought I would try my first triathlon while raising money for a good cause. I got hooked, so I became a coach too!
I wanted to share the love of rolling on two wheels with other women in the Triangle area, so in 2013, I founded Wheel Chix. When I’m not out running or cycling, I’m in the gym as a self-proclaimed lover of squats, push-ups, and burpees.
An Expert in Nutrition & Fitness
I started my journey to helping people be (more) awesome in 1999 when I became a personal trainer. While I loved it, it seemed like there was something missing. That “something” was nutrition. So in 2006, I returned to school at Meredith College to pursue my Master of Science as well as becoming a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. While I was there, I was able to work at the Meredith College Human Performance Laboratory, gaining valuable exercise physiology and fitness testing experience. Now I’m able to translate the science of nutrition and exercise into practical solutions for healthy living and optimal performance.
My specialties are coaching and nutrition for endurance athletes, general fitness, weight management, cardiovascular health, balanced living, food sensitivities and intolerances. I also provide medical nutrition therapy for active individuals with unique and common issues such as diabetes, pregnancy, lactation, anemia, food sensitivities, fructose malabsorption, celiac disease, hypothyroidism, and more.
If I can’t help you, I’ll refer you to someone who can!
A Balanced Approach in a Comfortable Environment
Life is all about balance. As a mom to 2 young kids, a wife to someone who works 24 hour shifts, a real-food advocate, an athlete and an entrepreneur, it’s certainly a juggling act. We’re all busy, so I’m here to help you balance your nutrition, fitness and athletic endeavors in a manageable way so you can enjoy your life to its fullest. If you want the “white coat” approach, you’ve found the wrong company. But if you want a non-judgmental, comfortable environment where we work together to find your unique formula, then you’ve come to the right place. I look forward (in fact, I can’t wait!) to help you exceed your potential!
