What is ashwagandha?
Ashwagandha is an evergreen shrub found in the dry areas of India and the Middle East.
The most popular type is KSM-66. It has the highest clinically studied and quality certifications out of all trademarked products. This is what you see in most products that contain ashwagandha.
What does ashwagandha do?
Ashwagandha can improve power and VO2 Max, and increase testosterone. It can also decrease cholesterol, cortisol, fatigue, arthritis, and anxiety.
How much of ashwagandha should I take?
For an increase in performance, 750-1250 mg daily can be effective. For anxiety and stress a lower dose of 300 mg is seen to be effective. Arthritis symptoms can decrease at around 600 mg daily. Doses are usually split and taken twice throughout the day.
How safe is ashwagandha?
Ashwagandha has been proven safe in studies up to 12 weeks. Short-term use is definitely okay, but long-term use is still in question. Those allergic to nightshades should avoid this supplement.
