Jason Ward
Jason has always had a passion for sports, fitness, and competition. In 2004, he completed his first triathlon, a sprint distance event in Winston-Salem. Despite his lifelong involvement in sports and fitness, his early triathlon experiences were humbling, often finishing near the back of the pack. For example, in 2005, it took him more than seven hours to complete the Duke Liver 70.3. Triathlon didn’t come easily, and it required extensive training and practice to make small improvements each year.
Through trial and error, and with the help of coaches and trainers who taught him valuable concepts and strategies, Jason persevered. The sport taught him about the courage and determination that all triathletes possess when they start a race. Over his 20 years in endurance sports, he has completed more than 60 triathlons of all distances, 30 running races from 5Ks to ultras, and 19 duathlons. Over time, Jason improved his performance, eventually earning podium finishes in both local and national races.
Jason’s coaching philosophy designs a prescriptive, whole-body approach that fits the athlete’s goals, lifestyle, and preferences. With full-time jobs and personal obligations, training for most athlete’s needs to be time efficient and effective. With Jason you may spend an hour more lifting weights to build strong legs and have a 90-minute running session instead of no weights and a 3-hour running session to prepare for a long race. Jason’s sees a lean, strong, well-fueled body as great for racing and for life.
