Marty Owens
In addition to his role with The Endurance Edge, Marty serves as the Head Coach for Women’s Triathlon at Newberry College. Previously, he was the Director of Track & Field, Cross Country, and Triathlon at Guilford College from 2021 to 2023. Before that, he spent 16 years as the Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA. During his time at Susquehanna, Marty was named Landmark Conference Coach of the Year 14 times and was honored as the USTFCCCA Division III Mideast Coach of the Year for the 2005 Outdoor Track & Field season. His teams captured 9 Landmark Conference Championships, including 5 in men’s cross country, 2 in women’s cross country, 1 in men’s indoor track & field, and 1 in men’s outdoor track & field. He also coached two USTFCCCA Division III Mideast Regional Track Athletes of the Year. Between cross country and track & field, he guided 1 NCAA Division III national champion, 13 NCAA All-Americans, and 35 NCAA qualifying performances. In cross country, his athletes claimed 8 Landmark Conference individual titles.
A competitive triathlete himself, Marty has qualified twice for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships and recently earned a spot in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in St. George, UT.
Marty’s coaching philosophy is rooted in individualized training, working closely with each athlete to help them achieve their best performance. By understanding their goals and using their feedback, he creates tailored training programs to guide them toward success. He believes that the coach-athlete relationship is built on open communication and mutual trust.
